The scholarship was created as an additional opportunity for in-coming members to receive financial assistance for being leaders within their schools, churches, work, and communities.

Jacob Vanderslice joined Beta Sigma Psi - Epsilon in 2011 and was deeply impacted at the number of opportunities to grow and advance his leadership within the fraternity. This came in the form of undergraduate brothers, alumni, the National Fraternity, and both IFC and Office of Greek Affairs. This scholarship was started with the hope to offer future members the same, if not better opportunities than what the fraternity gave Jacob.
