Spring Scholarships
Deadline - April 1st Every Year

Avery Andersen Foundation Beta Sigma Psi Spirit Award
Amount:  $1,000

  • Award named in honor of Epsilon member Avery Andersen, a 20-year-old junior at Iowa State University, studying meteorology when he died in a car accident near his home in Atlantic, Iowa on December 23, 2021.

  • The award is given to an active member who displays the love for his brothers and enthusiasm for life that Avery displayed. The Avery Andersen Foundation Beta Sigma Psi Spirit Award is designed to celebrate active members who contribute to the fraternity with the same passion and enthusiasm.

  • 2-3 applicants will be referred by the Epsilon Executive Board to the Avery Andersen Foundation by March 27th for final selection.

  • Applicants should be in good academic standing and be active in the fraternity, church, ISU, and community activities.

Balanced Beta Sig
Amount:  3 x $250

  • Must be an active sophomore or junior (based on years attended) living in-house to apply.

  • 3.0 GPA required.

  • Must have held an elected position in the fraternity.

  • Applicants should demonstrate strong spiritual, scholarship, and social characteristics.

Dick Juergens Scholarship
Amount:  2 x $750

  • One scholarship each will be awarded to a first-year and second-year Beta Sig, must be a first or second-year member to apply.

  • Emphasis shall be placed on applicants’ devotion to brotherhood, dedication to service in the community and chapter, leadership, and empathy.

  • Applicants’ affiliation with a particular religion or denomination will not be considered.

  • Preference for applicants pursuing careers in education or agricultural field.

  • Applicants must be a full-time student and in good academic standing at the time of applying and awarding.

Scott & Kim Herren Scholarship
Amount:  $1,000

  • Must be a first-year Beta Sig to apply.

  • Applicants should demonstrate strong spiritual, scholarship, and social characteristics.

Beta Sig Commissary Spring Staff Scholarship
Amount:  $250

  • Provided to the undergrad performing the duties of Commissary for the Spring semester.

  • No application is required.

Keith & Jamilya Leitich Scholarship
Amount:  $250

  • Applicants must be enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Fall Scholarships
Deadline - October 7th Every Year

Lynn A. Anderson Beta Sigma Psi Leadership Scholarship
Amount:  $2,500

  • Must be a junior or senior (based on years attended) to apply.

  • 2.75 GPA required.

  • Must exhibit strong leadership in fraternity, club, or community.

Doug McKechnie E-353 Scholarship
Amount:  $300

  • Must be a junior or senior (based on years attended) to apply.

  • Should show “Intelligence plus Character” through applicant’s community, church, scholastic, and leadership experiences.

Senior Legacy Scholarship
Amount:  $500 divided among recipients

  • Must be graduating in May 2023 or December 2023 to apply.

  • Must submit a recommendation letter from an executive board member.

  • Must submit a recommendation letter from pledge son or grandson.

  • Applicants should show how they have impacted the fraternity.

Duane Grummer and Jan Cooper Scholarship
Amount:  $1,000

  • Open to all active and associate members.

  • Emphasis on scholastic achievements and community service.

Don Beerman Scholarship
Amount:  $1,000

  • Must be a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student.

  • Emphasis on scholastic achievements and community service.

Brothers in Agriculture
Sponsored by Cody Clausen, Reed Burres, and Matt Levan
Amount:  $500

  • Preference will be given to applicants within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with secondary preference to those who possess a strong background in agriculture or life sciences.

  • Must be a full-time student and in good academic standing at the time of applying and awarding.

Beta Sig Iowa State Marching Band Scholarship
Sponsored by Dennis Engh
Amount:  $500

  • Applicants must be a member of the ISU Marching Band.

  • Preference given to Coronet/Trumpet Players, but not required.

Beta Sig Commissary Fall Staff Scholarship

Amount:  $250

​In recognition of the many Beta Sigs that worked in the kitchen with Mrs. C, the cook in the 1960s, for financial assistance. 

  • Provided to the undergrad performing the duties of Commissary for the Fall semester.

Richard A. Harrison & Karen G. Harrison Beta Sigma Psi Engineering Scholarship

Amount:  $2,500

  • Must be a member of Beta Sig and a College of Engineering student.

  • This is an ISU Foundation-managed scholarship, applied for through ISU’s OneApp.

Epsilon Dean's List Scholarships

Amount:     $100 Per Semester

Deadline:    Awarded Each Semester

  • Awarded to current active and associate members that were on ISU’s Dean’s List (3.5 GPA while a full-time student) the previous semester.

  • Must have been in-house during the Dean’s List semester to be eligible.

  • Members are automatically enrolled and do not need to submit an application.

National Beta Sigma Psi Scholarships and Awards

Beta Sigma Psi Campus Involvement Scholarship

Deadline:  January 31st

  • Must submit a letter of reference with the application.

  • Emphasis on community service and student organization involvement.

Beta Sigma Psi Financial Need Scholarship

Deadline:  January 31st

  • Emphasis on the financial need of the applicant.

Beta Sigma Psi Academic Achievement Scholarship

Deadline:  January 31st

  • Must submit a letter of reference with application.

  • Emphasis on applicant’s demonstration of the three S’s

Erck Award

Deadline:  Due at Membership Education Forum (Generally in February)

  • One applicant per Beta Sig chapter.

  • Applicants must participate in an interview with the selection committee at MEF.

  • Applicants should demonstrate strong spiritual, scholarship, and social characteristics in their chapter, community, and church.

Kettler Award

Deadline:  Due at Membership Education Forum (Generally in February)

  • One applicant per Beta Sig chapter.

  • Applicants must participate in an interview with the selection committee at MEF.

  • Applicants should demonstrate Christian leadership and a personal interest in the spiritual well-being of his fellow fraternity brothers.
