Hello
I am honored to be the house director for the Beta Sigma Psi men at Iowa State University.
My name is Alice-Jane Walter. I generally go by my initials AJ; however, I have a new title Miss Alice. Sometimes it's Mom AJ. I originally grew up in Manchester, IA, but I lived on a farm near Guttenberg for many years. I taught high school English there for 33 years. I also taught composition at Iowa State University and DMACC for a number of years.
I have three grown children: Chris (Chuck) Cornelius of Andrew, IA, JuliAnne Forrest of Falls Church, VA both of whom graduated from ISU, and a son John (Michelle) lives with his family in Strawberry Pt. IA.
I am a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames and have been involved as a volunteer with the ESL program. I accepted the challenge after teaching English teachers in China in connection with LCMS and the Amity program. I plan to work with the ESL program at Memorial again.
The men of the house are of the utmost importance to me. The three S's of Spiritual, Scholarship, and Social involvement are guides for me. This commitment to the house is my continuing work for the Lord. I have no other job than to be available for their activities and them as well as parents and alumni to help in whatever way I can.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions concerning my role in working with the men of the chapter. I can be reached at 515 268-3175.
