The members of the Beta Sig house and I consider ourselves a large extended family with the house being our "home away from home". What is the center of most homes? The kitchen, and that pretty much is what it is here at the house. I am over at the house every day around 5:30 am to start baking. The aroma of freshly baked goods can then greet the guys as they get up in the morning. I do mostly homemade, from scratch cooking. Breakfast is on your own with plenty of food for you to eat. Lunch and supper (dinner) is served 5 days a week. The kitchen is open 24-hours a day. There is always food in the refrigerator, pantry, or bake goods for you to eat.
I am here 7 days a week during the school year from around 5:30 in the morning until evening. If you get sick, let me know and I can fix special food for you. Many times guys need help or supplies for projects and I can help. Having lived in Ames for 20 some years, I can help with you getting to know the city and ISU. Come and talk with me any time you want to; I enjoy it. I also have some great stories to tell.
The gentlemen here at the Beta Sig house are unique in many ways. Instead of loud music playing, you might here guitar, piano, or group singing. Frisbee, going to the Rec., playing volleyball or catch are common relaxation times. Bible study, prayer breakfasts, or devotions are held at the house for those who want to attend. The members keep a very clean house by themselves and do much of the upkeep of the house. They are involved with many volunteer activities at ISU, in the Church, and in the community. Most of all, they care about each other. It is great to see them grow together as brothers, helping each other in studies, and in social and spiritual aspects of life. Looking back over the years, I am always amazed to see how much each has grown. For me it is a privilege to cook and be a friend to the members of Beta Sigma Psi.
